Overview
Ibis Styles is an international economy hotel brand owned and operated within the Accor group. Its roots trace to All Seasons, a hotel chain created in Australia in 1980. Accor acquired the All Seasons business in 1999 and later developed it into a broader economy brand centered on distinctive design rather than a completely uniform visual format. Accor relaunched All Seasons in France in 2007, introducing a concept in which individual hotels could express a recognizable local or thematic identity while remaining part of a common branded network. The brand adopted the Ibis Styles name in September 2011 as part of a major restructuring of Accor's economy portfolio. The same program repositioned the Ibis family as an economy megabrand alongside the core Ibis and Ibis Budget brands. Ibis Styles became the design-oriented member of that family, while Ibis emphasized its established standardized hotel proposition and Ibis Budget focused more explicitly on low-cost accommodation. The first Ibis Styles signs appeared in December 2012, although some properties continued to use the former All Seasons identity for years afterward. The brand's proposition is based on combining affordable hotel accommodation with a more expressive environment. Rather than presenting every property as visually identical, Ibis Styles hotels are generally expected to reflect the character of their location through color, artwork, interiors, public spaces, and locally relevant themes. The result is a network that can range from urban and airport hotels to properties designed around cultural or creative concepts. This flexibility is intended to make the brand feel more individual than a conventional standardized economy chain while preserving the distribution, operating infrastructure, and loyalty ecosystem of Accor. Accommodation remains the central offering. Typical properties provide guest rooms, beds, bathrooms, breakfast or other food-and-beverage services, and shared lobby or lounge areas. The brand's redesign program also placed greater emphasis on the lobby as a social living space. Across the Ibis family, Accor introduced the Sweet Bed system, including redesigned mattresses and pillows, together with improvements to digital access and the overall guest experience. These features helped establish a common functional foundation beneath the different visual identities of individual Ibis Styles hotels. Expansion accelerated after the 2011 rebranding. Between 2011 and 2014, the number of Ibis Styles hotels reportedly grew by 65 percent to approximately 250 properties in 21 countries. Accor subsequently announced development in additional markets, including the United States, India, and airport locations around New York and London. The brand also expanded in Africa and Southeast Asia. In 2018, its network was reported at 476 hotels in 45 countries. By 31 December 2025, the network was reported to comprise 701 hotels and 75,577 rooms worldwide. Ibis Styles has used selected properties and guest-facing initiatives to reinforce its design and innovation positioning. Examples include a Geneva hotel dedicated to European comics and Lit'maginaire, an augmented-reality experience introduced in 2019 that linked a pillow-based concept with a simulated journey into space. In the Philippines, the brand launched in January 2020 with Ibis Styles Manila Araneta City, a 286-room hotel in Cubao, Quezon City. In Malaysia, Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang officially opened in January 2025 with 168 rooms in the Jalan Alor area. The brand therefore occupies a position between conventional budget lodging and more design-conscious limited-service hospitality. It benefits from Accor's international scale while allowing hotel owners and operators to use local storytelling and property-specific aesthetics. Its principal competitive challenge is to maintain consistent service, value, and recognizable brand standards across a network whose physical appearance and themat…
History
Ibis Styles developed from All Seasons, an Australian hotel chain founded in 1980. By 1999, All Seasons operated 27 hotels and was acquired by the French hospitality group Accor. The acquisition brought the network into Accor's expanding economy portfolio, but the brand initially retained its original identity. Accor relaunched All Seasons in France in 2007 as a non-standardized economy concept with an emphasis on stylish design. This approach distinguished the chain from economy brands built around strict visual uniformity. Properties could use different colors, artwork, and decorative themes while maintaining a common promise of accessible accommodation. A pillow logo was introduced during this period, and the network reached 100 locations in 2010. In September 2011, Accor renamed All Seasons Ibis Styles. The change was part of a broader effort to reorganize its economy brands around the Ibis name. Etap Hôtel became Ibis Budget, while Ibis Styles became the design-led and more expressive branch of the Ibis family. The Ibis family also received common guest-experience improvements, including the Sweet Bed system, upgraded mattresses and pillows, digital-access enhancements, and a reworked lobby concept intended to function as a shared living space. The first Ibis Styles signs were installed in December 2012. Some hotels continued using the All Seasons name for a prolonged transition period; a remaining property in Jakarta was still identified with the former name in 2022. The rebranding was followed by rapid international development. From 2011 to 2014, the number of Ibis Styles hotels grew by 65 percent, reaching 250 locations in 21 countries. Accor announced further expansion in 2016, including proposed openings in the United States, India, and airport markets near New York and London. The chain was also described as having the largest number of planned openings among hotel brands in Africa at that time. Its reported network reached 476 hotels in 45 countries in 2018. The brand's expansion was accompanied by experiments in themed hospitality. In 2018, Ibis Styles opened a Geneva property devoted to European comics. In 2019, it introduced Lit'maginaire, an augmented-reality concept associated with a pillow and an imaginary trip into space. These initiatives reflected the brand's effort to make design, storytelling, and playfulness part of the hotel stay rather than treating décor as a purely functional element. Ibis Styles entered the Philippines in January 2020 with Ibis Styles Manila Araneta City in Cubao, Quezon City. The property has 286 rooms and is located beside the Araneta Coliseum. In January 2025, Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang opened in Malaysia with 168 rooms on Jalan Alor, an area known for its concentration of local food businesses. As of 31 December 2025, Ibis Styles was reported to manage 701 hotels containing 75,577 rooms worldwide. The brand remains part of Accor's Ibis family, alongside Ibis and Ibis Budget. Its operating model combines the advantages of an international hotel group with a relatively flexible design language: hotels are expected to deliver affordable, dependable accommodation, but individual properties can express the culture, history, or creative character of their location.
