Overview
Google Cloud's operations suite is the successor to Stackdriver, a cloud systems-management service originally developed by an independent startup and later acquired by Google. The product family was designed to give cloud operators a unified view of application performance, infrastructure health, logs, distributed traces, errors, and operational alerts. History
Stackdriver originated as an independent cloud operations company founded in 2012 by Dan Belcher and Izzy Azeri. Its objective was to address the operational complexity created by distributed cloud applications and infrastructure. Rather than limiting monitoring to one infrastructure layer, the company pursued a unified software-as-a-service approach that could collect and present operational information across multiple layers of a cloud environment.
