CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. is a core subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, engaged in the R&D, manufacturing, and service of electric locomotives, urban rail vehicles, and other rail transit equipment. Located in Zhuzhou, Hunan, it is an important base for China's rail transit equipment industry.

CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive's institutional history begins with Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works, founded in 1936. The works became one of China's significant electric-locomotive manufacturing centers. Its historical product development included the Shaoshan series, covering several generations of electric locomotives used in Chinese railway operations. Later programs introduced variable-voltage and variable-frequency control and incorporated international engineering cooperation, including technology associated with Siemens-derived locomotive platforms. On 31 August 2005, CSR Group Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. was spun off from the historic locomotive works. The original works' legal entity became an intermediate holding company for the CSR group, while the newly separated limited company entered the listed CSR group structure. The company later changed its name to CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. During the CSR period, the company broadened its scope from conventional electric locomotives into multiple units, metro cars and overseas rail projects. Its locomotive products included the DJ family of variable-frequency locomotives, DJ1 and DJ2, and the HXD1 family developed through cooperation with Siemens. The company also produced or supplied export locomotives for Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and South Africa. Its urban-rail portfolio grew through projects for Chinese metro systems and through international contracts and partnerships. The company was renamed CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. in 2015 after the formation of CRRC Corporation Limited. This placed it within the larger CRRC group, created through the merger of CSR Corporation and China CNR Corporation.
