Wilo traces its origins to 1872, when Louis Opländer founded a copper and brassware factory in Dortmund under the name Messingwarenfabrik Louis Opländer Maschinenbau. The company’s early industrial base in metalworking provided a foundation for its later move into mechanical engineering and pump manufacture. Over time, Wilo developed from a regional manufacturer into a specialist supplier of equipment for heating, water supply, wastewater, and industrial fluid handling. Today, Wilo operates across building technology, water management, and industry. Its products include circulation, inline, multistage, submersible, end-suction, split-case, and vertical-turbine pumps, as well as booster systems, pumping stations, wastewater equipment, mixers, and intelligent controls. The group has reported more than 90 production facilities or operating sites in over 50 countries and annual production of approximately 10 million pumps. Wilo’s strategic identity is based on combining hydraulic equipment with efficient drives, automation, connectivity, and complete project solutions.
