United Shoe Machinery Corporation

United Shoe Machinery Corporation (USMC) was an American company founded in 1899 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Formed by merging several shoe machinery manufacturers, it quickly dominated the U.S. shoe machinery market, using a leasing rather than selling model. In the mid-20th century, the company was broken up due to antitrust litigation and eventually ceased operations in the late 20th century.
