According to the company history page, Shinko Seiki started in 1949 by borrowing the Karumo factory of Kawanishi Machinery Manufacturing Works. In 1951, it began manufacturing vacuum pump equipment and vacuum devices. In 1957, it succeeded in domesticating a large vacuum pump SMB-20,000 type with the support of MITI's industrialization subsidy. In 1958, it started manufacturing semiconductor-related equipment and completed Ge reduction furnaces, refining furnaces, single crystal furnaces, and alloy furnaces. In 1962, it commercialized a high-vacuum deposition device with high pumping speed. In 1965, it developed and commercialized an ultra-high vacuum multilayer deposition device using electron beams, an ion bombardment device, and an automatic soldering bath device. In 1967, it completed an IC firing furnace and a vacuum sintering furnace. In 1976, it completed a mass-production ion plating device and established superhard and corrosion-resistant film formation technologies. In 1989, it received the first Small and Medium Enterprise Excellent New Technology and New Product Award for its multipurpose ion plating device. In 1999, it obtained ISO9001 certification for the Shiga Moriyama plant.
