Founded in 1946 by John Pye and Ben Barker, the company has grown to have branches across the U.S. and offers services including fire extinguishers, fire suppression, fire alarms, security, and more.

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety was founded in 1946 by John Pye and Ben Barker, graduates of Georgia Institute of Technology, who opened Pye-Barker Supply Company in Atlanta, Georgia. The company initially sold fire protection and safety equipment, including fire extinguishers and first-aid kits. In 1972, Thomas Lumsden, the store keeper, acquired the company from the founders. In 1990, J. Roger Lumsden partnered with current CEO Bart Proctor to grow the business. During the 1990s, the company made several acquisitions.
