Overview
Paradigm Talent Agency is an American entertainment representation firm headquartered in Los Angeles, with additional offices and operations in major North American and European media markets. The agency represents creative professionals and entertainment properties across music performances, television, motion pictures, theatre, books, digital content, commercial and voiceover work, content finance, media rights, and brand partnerships. Its business is built around agents who negotiate engagements, develop clients' careers, arrange touring and performance opportunities, package entertainment projects, and connect talent with studios, networks, publishers, promoters, brands, and other commercial partners. The agency traces its origins to Sam Gores's creation of SGA Representation in 1986. Through acquisitions and combinations with other representation businesses, SGA developed into Gores/Fields and subsequently joined with several firms during 1992 and 1993 to form Paradigm Talent Agency. This consolidation gave Paradigm a broader platform from which to compete in Hollywood representation while retaining a significant focus on music and live performance. Paradigm expanded beyond its initial base through a series of acquisitions and partnerships. In 2004 it acquired the literary firm Genesis and the Writers & Artists Agency, strengthening its television and literary representation capabilities. The same year, the agency acquired Monterey Peninsula Artists, an established independent music agency. It continued building its music business through the acquisition of New York booking agency Little Big Man in 2006, Ellis Industries in 2008, and Nashville-based Third Coast Artists Agency in 2009. These transactions broadened Paradigm's roster across established touring artists, emerging acts, and Christian music. The agency entered electronic dance music through a 2012 joint venture with AM Only, whose clients included prominent artists such as David Guetta, Skrillex, and Tiësto. In 2014, Paradigm acquired a 50 percent interest in London's Coda Agency, extending its reach into the United Kingdom and wider European touring market. It later partnered with X-ray Touring in 2017. AM Only and the Windish Agency, which had also partnered with Paradigm, were formally brought under the Paradigm name in 2017, consolidating several music-representation operations under a common identity. Paradigm's Los Angeles presence also changed over time. Its original Beverly Hills office occupied a former MCA campus associated with entertainment-industry figures Jules Stein and Lew Wasserman. In 2018, the agency moved into the Wilshire LaPeer building on Wilshire Boulevard. In April 2019, Marty Diamond was appointed head of global music, reflecting the strategic importance of the agency's international concert and touring business. In April 2022, Wasserman Music acquired Paradigm's United Kingdom live-music business, reducing Paradigm's direct UK live-music operation while leaving the Paradigm agency as a broader entertainment-representation brand. Paradigm has represented or been associated with clients in music, acting, directing, writing, television production, and other creative fields. Publicly cited clients have included Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Stephen King, Sydney Sweeney, Antonio Banderas, Brian Cox, James Wan, and Malcolm D. Lee, although client rosters change over time. The agency has also received Pollstar's Booking Agency of the Year award four times, in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
History
Paradigm Talent Agency developed from a sequence of independent entertainment-representation businesses assembled under Sam Gores. Gores opened SGA Representation in 1986. The company acquired The Jack Fields Agency and adopted the Gores/Fields name, then expanded again by bringing ATM & Associates into the organization in 1987. During 1992 and 1993, Gores entered into additional arrangements with STE Representations, Robinson, Weintraub, Gross & Associates, and Shorr, Stille & Associates. These combinations created the business known as Paradigm Talent Agency. Paradigm's original Beverly Hills location was situated on a former MCA campus constructed in 1932. The site's conference rooms commemorated Jules Stein and Lew Wasserman, figures associated with MCA and the historical development of Hollywood representation. In 2018, Paradigm moved to the Wilshire LaPeer building on Wilshire Boulevard, a property with its own connection to the agency business because ICM had previously been headquartered there. A major expansion took place in 2004, when Paradigm acquired the literary firms Genesis and Writers & Artists Agency. The deal added approximately a dozen agents and expanded Paradigm's television and literary capabilities. The combined operation brought television clients including Joel Surnow, creator and executive producer of 24, and Lee Aronsohn, co-creator and executive producer of Two and a Half Men. Music became an increasingly important part of Paradigm's strategy. In 2004 the agency acquired Monterey Peninsula Artists, an independent music agency with an established roster of touring artists. In 2006 it acquired New York-based Little Big Man, adding a complementary focus on newer and developing acts. Paradigm then acquired Ellis Industries in 2008 and Third Coast Artists Agency in 2009. Third Coast, based in Nashville, was described as the largest independent Christian music agency, giving Paradigm an additional specialty within the music market. Gores described the agency's acquisition philosophy in terms of leadership quality, integrity, community standing, cultural fit, and the possibility of combining an acquired firm's specialist relationships with Paradigm's broader infrastructure. In music, the combination of Monterey's established artists and Little Big Man's emerging-oriented roster was presented as an example of complementary capabilities. In 2012 Paradigm entered electronic dance music through a joint venture with AM Only. The partnership added representation for major electronic artists, including David Guetta, Skrillex, and Tiësto. Paradigm then acquired a 50 percent interest in London's Coda Agency in January 2014. The transaction created a direct strategic foothold in London and supported expansion into European and other international markets. By combining its existing music division with AM Only and Coda, Paradigm became a significant global music agency with publicly cited clients including Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, Ed Sheeran, Fun., Bon Iver, Janelle Monáe, Jason Mraz, The Lumineers, and Phish. Paradigm continued its European development by partnering with London-based X-ray Touring in 2017. That year AM Only and the Windish Agency formally adopted the Paradigm Talent Agency name after previous partnership arrangements. The consolidation placed several music operations under the Paradigm identity. In April 2019, Marty Diamond became head of global music. The agency has represented clients across entertainment disciplines. Publicly cited examples include author Stephen King; actors Sydney Sweeney, Antonio Banderas, and Brian Cox; directors James Wan and Malcolm D. Lee; and musicians Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Halsey, and Ed Sheeran, with the cited roster reflecting information available in 2018 rather than a permanent current client list. Paradigm's music operation received Pollstar's Booking Agency of the Year award in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020. On April 26, 2022, Wasserman Music acquired Paradigm's United Kingdom live-music business. This transaction transferred the relevant UK live-music operation to Wasserman while Paradigm remained a broader entertainment agency with representation activities spanning music and other creative sectors.
