Odyssey of the Seas is a Quantum Ultra-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International, a cruise brand within Royal Caribbean Group. Built by Meyer Werft in Germany, it is the second Quantum Ultra-class vessel and the final ship in that sub-class operated by Royal Caribbean International. The ship entered service in 2021 after a construction and commissioning schedule affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The vessel was ordered during Royal Caribbean's expansion of its Quantum-class fleet. Royal Caribbean reached an agreement with Meyer Werft for a fifth Quantum-class ship on 3 November 2015. These include a FlowRider surf simulator, a rock-climbing wall, a skydiving simulator, swimming pools, a North Star observation pod, a basketball court, bumper cars, a solarium, a spa and fitness centre, a theatre, and a casino. The ship has 15 restaurants and approximately 2,105 cabins. The ship was originally associated with a planned Port Everglades deployment, announced in September 2019. The pandemic disrupted the planned launch, and Royal Caribbean suspended operations in March 2020. The inaugural sailing was postponed several times, including after eight crew members were reported to have contracted COVID-19 in June 2021. Royal Caribbean formally accepted the ship from Meyer Werft on 31 March 2021 through a virtual delivery ceremony. Odyssey of the Seas originated in Royal Caribbean's programme to expand and refresh its Quantum-class fleet. On 3 November 2015, Royal Caribbean entered an agreement with Meyer Werft for a fifth Quantum-class ship. The vessel was initially planned for delivery in autumn 2020, but the schedule was later deferred to 2021.
