Over the years, the company developed various ion implantation systems, including for semiconductors and flat panel displays. In 2001, it established a joint venture in Taiwan and opened a representative office in Shanghai. In 2002, it established subsidiaries in Korea and China, and a branch in Singapore. In 2005, it opened the Shiga facility and plasma technology development center. In 2010, it established a wholly owned subsidiary in the USA. In 2011, it established a production subsidiary in China and developed world-first ion implantation equipment for 5.5th and 6th generation substrates.
