Mirai Shipbuilding

Mirai Shipbuilding (株式会社みらい造船) is a Japanese shipbuilding company established on May 1, 2015. It was founded by five shipyards in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, which united after the Great East Japan Earthquake to preserve the local shipbuilding industry. The company builds and repairs steel ships, constructs marine structures, and provides after-sales services. It also builds small aluminum boats, mainly fishing vessels. The company's headquarters is located at 7-5 Asahi-cho, Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture.

Mirai Shipbuilding was established on May 1, 2015. It was formed by five shipyards in Kesennuma that united after the Great East Japan Earthquake to prevent the decline of the shipbuilding industry, which is fundamental to the local economy and fisheries. The five shipyards include Kido Port Shipbuilding (founded 1932), Yoshida Shipbuilding & Iron Works (founded 1916), Sawada Shipyard (founded 1954), Kobusa Shipbuilding & Iron Works (founded 1910), and K-Yard (founded 1974). The company's name 'Mirai' (future) reflects the hope to continue the legacy of the predecessors for the next 100 years.
