History
Main Iron Works has been providing shipbuilding and refurbishing services in the Houma, Louisiana area since 1947. It was founded by Arlen B. Cenac, Jr.'s maternal grandfather, Horace “Jack” Guidry. The company initially began operations on Main Street in downtown Houma, Louisiana, and eventually settled into its current headquarters at the 50-mile marker of the Intracoastal Waterway in 1961. Main Iron Works was acquired by Arlen B. Cenac, Jr. and the Cenac Group in July 2015. Following the acquisition, Cenac Marine Services has continued to operate Main Iron Works as an independent entity under the Cenac Group umbrella.
