History
Licella was founded in 2007 by Dr Len Humphreys and Professor Thomas Maschmeyer AO. The company developed the Cat-HTR platform, an advanced form of hydrothermal liquefaction, to convert biomass waste into renewable oil. In 2007, a small pilot plant was commissioned in Somersby, NSW, and in 2011, a large pilot plant was commissioned.
