Kitanihon Shipbuilding

Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a Japanese shipbuilding company established on April 5, 1969. It is headquartered in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, and engages in shipbuilding, manufacture and sale of metal products for construction, civil engineering works, and shipping business. The company operates multiple facilities including the Hachinohe main plant, Kuji plant, Kitahama plant, and Toyosu plant.

Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established on April 5, 1969. In 1982, the first building berth for 3,800 gross tons was completed (expanded to 20,000 gross tons in 2010, and abolished in 2013 when converted to a dock). In 1992, the second building dock for 8,000 gross tons was completed. In 1997, a new office building was completed. In 2004, the company acquired ISO9001:2000 and JISQ9001:2000 certifications. In 2006, Kuji Plant and Kitahama Plant were established. In 2007, the first block assembly plant was expanded at Kuji Plant. In 2008, the second block assembly plant and the third and fourth blasting plants were newly established at Kuji Plant. In 2009, a corrugated plant was newly established at Kuji Plant, and the second building dock was expanded to 15,000 gross tons at the main plant. In 2011, a tsunami-risk-compliant second inner work plant was newly established at Kuji Plant, and the fifth and sixth blasting plants were also established. In 2013, Toyosu Plant was established, and the first building dock for 36,000 gross tons was completed at the main plant. In 2015, the seventh and eighth blasting plants were added at Kuji Plant. In 2016, a block plant and a blasting plant were added at Toyosu Plant. In 2020, the second union plant was newly established at Kuji Plant.
