IMDEX

IMDEX is a mining technology company that creates technology to efficiently and sustainably unlock the Earth's value. It offers an integrated range of drilling optimisation products, cloud-connected rock knowledge sensors, directional core drilling, and data and analytics. The company was incorporated in 1980 as Pilbara Gold NL, changed its name to Imdex Limited in 1985, and listed on the ASX in 1987.

IMDEX's journey began before its official founding when Claes Ericsson worked with Industry AB REFLEX and pioneered the non-magnetic instrument market with the Fotobor borehole-survey tool. In 1980, Australian company Pilbara Gold NL was incorporated, marking the official start of IMDEX. In 1985, Pilbara Gold NL changed its name to Imdex Limited. In 1986, REFLEX and Chardec combined to further develop the Fotobor. In 1987, Imdex Limited listed on the ASX with code IMD. In 1988, Viktor Tokle started Devico and launched the directional core-drilling system later dubbed DeviDrill; also in 1988, the Australian Mud Company (AMC) was formed. In 1989, Downhole Surveys started up in Kalgoorlie WA.
