Forney Industries was founded in 1932 when James Donovan Forney went into business for himself selling 'The Forney Instant Heat Soldering Iron' door to door. The company's roots in innovation began with a revolutionary instant-heat soldering iron in the early 30s, followed by the first publicly available arc welder in the 1940s. In 2022, the company celebrated 90 years of business.
