History
DataCore was founded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in February 1998 by George Teixeira and Ziya Aral, former colleagues at Encore Computer. The founders sought to separate storage services from proprietary hardware by allowing network operators to combine commodity disks, external arrays, and SAN resources into virtualized network storage.
