Cherry Aerospace

Cherry Aerospace is a global leader for aerospace blind fastening systems. The Cherry brand originated in 1940 when the Cherry Rivet Company introduced the first blind fasteners. Its headquarters and manufacturing facility is located in Santa Ana, California (USA). It is part of Precision Castparts Corp (PCC), Fastener Products Division. Products include aerospace-grade blind rivets, blind bolts, rivetless nut plates, specialized solid rivets and shear pins, and associated installation tools.

The Cherry Rivet Company was founded in Los Angeles in 1940, after four years of development, hard work and faith in an idea first conceived by Carl Cherry. In 1936, Cherry's stepson worked as a riveter at the Douglas Aircraft plant and told Carl about difficulties in riveting assemblies. Carl Cherry started working on the problem from his kitchen, and after experiments, a U.S. Patent application was filed in 1937. In 1939, the original U.S. Patent for the Cherry Rivet was issued.
