C.H. Hanson

C.H. Hanson is a privately held, family-owned company founded in 1866 by Danish immigrant Christian Henry Hanson. It designs and manufactures marking tools, metal stamps, industrial stencils, metal tags, layout tools, and safety products trusted across construction, manufacturing, utilities, municipal contracting, and beyond. The company is now in its fifth generation of Hanson family leadership.

C.H. Hanson was founded on February 21, 1866, by Christian Henry Hanson, who emigrated from Denmark to the United States in the mid-1800s. He opened his first location at Clark and South Water Street in Chicago. Six years later, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed everything he had built, but he rebuilt. The company has grown into a trusted manufacturer of marking tools, metal stamps, industrial stencils, metal tags, layout tools, and safety products. It remains privately held and family-owned, now in its fifth generation of Hanson leadership.
