Browar Koszalin

Browar Koszalin is a historic brewery in Koszalin, in Poland's West Pomeranian region. The brewery occupies a Neo-Gothic building constructed during the second half of the nineteenth century and is primarily associated with BROK beer. Its history extends from nineteenth-century craft production through industrial expansion, postwar state management, privatization, stock-market ownership, and eventual integration into the Van Pur brewery group. The brewery was established in 1868, while mass production began in 1874. Around the beginning of the twenty-first century, the company adopted the name Browary Brok SA. In 2002, financial difficulties led to a merger with Strzelec. The resulting company, Brok-Strzelec SA, was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Royal Unibrew of Denmark acquired the business in 2005. In December 2010, Van Pur acquired Royal Unibrew's Polish operations, including the Koszalin brewery. The transaction included an arrangement under which Royal Unibrew received a minority interest in Van Pur's Polish business; Van Pur later exercised an option connected with that interest in 2012. The Koszalin site has been described as having beer-production capacity of approximately 650,000 hectoliters per year. Its principal branded range includes BROK Export, BROK Sambor, BROK Strong, BROK Sambor Unfiltered, and Kanclerz.
