Bergger

Bergger is a French manufacturer of photosensitive surfaces, including papers, films, and chemicals for black-and-white photography. It claims to be the only French manufacturer of silver-based supports and plays a key role in preserving photographic heritage.

Bergger's history is rooted in a lineage dating back to 1858, when Gustave Guilleminot founded one of the first French houses dedicated to photographic papers and plates. The Gérard family entered the photo industry in 1916, working alongside the Lumière family in Lyon and later within the Guilleminot factories, which they helped direct and develop for over 70 years. In 1995, after the closure of Guilleminot, Guy Gérard, heir to this know-how transmitted over three generations, created Bergger with the idea of preserving and renewing the excellence of black-and-white printing.
