Beacons Closet

Beacon's Closet is a home grown and locally owned operation, 100% Brooklyn based and female founded, embracing sustainability and ethical business practices. It has multiple locations including Greenpoint, Park Slope, Bushwick, and Greenwich Village, and is consistently named as one of the top 10 secondhand stores in NYC.

Beacon's Closet owner and founder, Carrie Peterson, moved from Tucson to Williamsburg in 1996. She eventually rented the original store location on Bedford + N. 11th, which had remained vacant for some time. Initial inventory came from her own personal stock, closets of friends, and thrifting. She originally lived in the back of the store while getting it off the ground.
