History
The Programa do XXII Governo Constitucional proposed the development of a new financial institution to confer financial capacity to the national business ecosystem and accelerate various sources of financing for sustainable projects. In June 2020, the Economic and Social Stabilization Programme considered it essential to accelerate the creation of a promotional development bank. Thus, on November 3, 2020, Banco Português de Fomento, S.A. was born, resulting from the merger by incorporation of PME Investimentos and IFD into SPGM, as described in Decreto-Lei n.º 63/2020.
