History
The origins of Axon Enterprise's principal weapons business lie in work by NASA researcher Jack Cover, who began developing an electrically powered alternative to firearms for controlling dangerous suspects in 1969. Cover completed an early device by 1974 and called it the TASER, an acronym derived from the fictional Tom Swift's electric rifle.
