Argos, Centrum voor Kunst en Media

Argos, Centrum voor Kunst en Media (also known as argos centre for audiovisual arts) is a centre for art and media in Brussels, Belgium. It was founded in 1989 to stimulate and promote the then emerging Belgian audiovisual arts scene. Today it develops artistic programmes, distribution activities, and houses a media library and a collection of over 5000 artist films and videos. Since 1994 it has been primarily subsidised by the Flemish Community. In 1999 it moved to its current home in a former storage facility in the 'Les Quais' district of Brussels.

Argos was founded in 1989 in Brussels to stimulate and promote the then emerging Belgian audiovisual arts scene. Initially, it mainly organised screenings in cultural centres across the country and started distributing videos to festivals, art institutions, and television networks internationally. Since 1994, Argos has been primarily subsidised by the Flemish Community. In 1999, after several relocations, it found its current home in a former storage facility in the historic 'Les Quais' district of downtown Brussels. The building has been gradually turned into a multifunctional platform with exhibition spaces, a projection room, a media library, a climate-controlled archive, studios, offices, a café, and a bookshop. Over the past three decades, Argos has gained expertise in audiovisual archiving and preservation, and has organised exhibitions, screenings, festivals, workshops, seminars, and conversations locally and internationally.
