Overview
APG is a Dutch pension administration and financial services organization. It provides pension administration, asset management, participant communication and related services to pension funds, employers and participants. Its activities are closely linked to the Dutch occupational pension system, while its asset management business invests globally across areas such as equities, fixed income, real estate, infrastructure and other long-term asset classes. APG generally operates as a group brand, with APG Asset Management serving as a principal institutional investment business. It is primarily an institutional pension-services brand rather than a consumer financial-products brand.
History
APG's activities developed from the Dutch occupational pension administration system, and the current APG group was formed through a reorganization of pension-related activities around 2008. It subsequently established an integrated structure covering pension administration, asset management, participant communication and related professional services. Its principal clients are Dutch occupational pension funds, including large sector-wide funds. Through its asset management activities, APG invests pension assets across global markets and asset classes, with long-term investment, risk management and sustainability among its key considerations. As the Dutch pension system has continued to evolve, APG's work has expanded beyond fund administration to include participant services, data and operating capabilities, portfolio management and support for pension-system transitions. APG is not primarily a retail banking or consumer fund-distribution brand; its role is to provide institutional pension operations and long-term investment capabilities.
