The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur is an Institute of National Importance established by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) with the objective of correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable tertiary healthcare and strengthening high-quality medical education and research across the country. Located in the MIHAN area of Nagpur, it serves as a major tertiary healthcare, academic, and research hub for Central India, particularly for the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and neighbouring states. The institute began its academic and clinical journey in 2018 from the Government Medical College campus in Nagpur, subsequently shifting to its permanent campus at MIHAN in September 2019, where outpatient services were expanded. Inpatient services commenced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The institute was dedicated to the nation on 11 December 2022 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India.
