Acciona is a Spanish multinational infrastructure and renewable-energy group whose corporate brand is used across engineering, construction, energy generation, water services and long-term infrastructure operations. Headquartered in Alcobendas in the Community of Madrid, the company operates in approximately 30 countries and has a substantial international project portfolio. Its United States operations are headquartered in Chicago. Acciona is listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange under the ticker ANA and is a constituent of the IBEX 35. The company was created in 1997 through the merger of Entrecanales y Tavora and Cubiertas y MZOV. Acciona's corporate history is rooted in Spain's long-established construction and civil-engineering sector. One predecessor, MZOV, was founded in 1862. Another predecessor, Cubiertas y Tejados, dates from 1916. In 1978, MZOV and Cubiertas y Tejados merged to create Cubiertas y MZOV, bringing together businesses with experience in large-scale construction and public works. Entrecanales y Tavora, the other principal predecessor, was founded in 1931 and developed into an important Spanish engineering and construction company.
