History
VersaClimber is a product of Heart Rate Inc., which was incorporated in October 1978. The company completed the design and a functional prototype of a heart rate wristwatch in 1980 and was awarded an exclusive patent for a capacitive electrode used in the NASA space program. Dick Charnitski, president of Heart Rate Inc. and a mechanical engineer, turned his attention to developing the VersaClimber after facing a lack of financial backing for heart rate monitoring. VersaClimber has been made in the USA since 1981.
