Vermont Mutual Insurance Group traces its beginnings to November 10, 1827, when it first received its Legislative Charter. On January 21, 1828, the Vermont Mutual Fire Insurance Company officially opened its doors to the public. The company was founded by Vermonter Daniel Baldwin to protect his fellow citizens from financial ruin, as fire was a prominent danger at the time. The company has been protecting individuals and businesses since 1828.
