VDL Groep is an international industrial family company with its headquarters in the Brainport Eindhoven region. Founded in 1953, the third generation of the Van der Leegte family has been at the helm since 2017. With over 14,000 employees, it is active in 20 countries. The company develops and produces a wide variety of industrial products, from components to advanced end products, organized around the 'five worlds of VDL': Hightech, Mobility, Energy, Infratech, and Foodtech.
History
In 1953, the foundation was laid for what is now VDL Groep (Van Der Leegte Groep) with the establishment of 'Metaalindustrie en Constructiewerkplaats P. van der Leegte.' The family business, rooted in Eindhoven, was founded by Pieter van der Leegte senior. The first customers were Philips, Pieter van der Leegte's former employer, and DAF Trucks. Founded in 1953, now 70 years later, the third generation of the Van der Leegte family has been at the helm since 2017.
