History
Val-Matic was founded in 1966 by Andrew Nuter and Ted Makowan with one product line: the Silent Check Valve. Within a year, work began on Air Valves, which became the company's signature product line. The company introduced Dual Disc (1980) and Tilted Disc (1981) check valve lines. In 1985, it built a new facility in Elmhurst, IL. Swing-Flex Check Valve (1986) and Cam-Centric Plug Valve (1987) were introduced. In 1994, the facility was expanded, and a new rectangular ported Cam-Centric Plug Valve line was released. In 1999, the company acquired rights to the American-Darling AWWA Butterfly Valve line. In 2003, the Surgebuster product line was introduced. After 55 years as a family owned company, Val-Matic joined the A.Y. McDonald family in 2021.
