Southland Industries

Southland Industries is an MEP building systems expert that provides integrated, full lifecycle building solutions optimizing the design, construction, operation, and efficiency of buildings. Founded in 1949, the company has grown from a local heating and cooling company to a national MEP leader.

Southland Industries was founded in 1949 as a small furnace company in Southern California called Southland Heating. On June 17, 1949, six employees purchased the Payne Furnace Long Beach, California branch for $24,000 and named the new company Southland Heating. The stakeholders were Don Will, Donald E. Sullivan, Robert N. Hall, Lawrence Redwine, Charles E. Watson, and Margaret G. Stimson. In 1950, Southland Heating began to advertise on TV, and by the end of 1950, sales quadrupled to more than $60,000 a month. In 1951, Southland Heating created a wholesale company called Advanced Engineering and Supply Corporation (AESC). In 1952, Brandt, a future Southland Industries company, was founded as Brandt Engineering. In 1953, TCM Corp., a future Southland Industries company, was founded, and Southland opened a Pasadena, California office. The company has grown from a local heating and cooling company to a national MEP leader.
