Shikoku Dockyard

Shikoku Dockyard Co., Ltd. is a shipyard located in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 1927, it has been building ships for about 100 years. The company develops and builds various vessels to meet market needs, including bulk carriers and refrigerated cargo ships. It is known for its refrigerated cargo ships, which have received high praise from customers.

Shikoku Dockyard Co., Ltd. was established in 1927 as Takamatsu Shipyard on the site of Minato Shipyard (now Higashijo-cho). In 1955, Shikoku Dockyard Co., Ltd. was established and began steel shipbuilding under technical guidance from Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. In 1964, it entered into a business and technical partnership with Mitsui Shipbuilding. Over the years, it has built various vessels including its first refrigerated cargo ship in 1966, its first 18,000 DWT bulk carrier in 1976, and its first chemical tanker in 1986. In 2008, it completed factory reconfiguration and established a system to build six ships per year. In 2019, its refrigerated cargo ship won the 'Ship of the Year 2018' Large Cargo Ship Division Award.
