History
Rock Oil was started in 1928 by Fred Malone, the father of the current chairperson Barbara Hewitt. After World War 2, the business took off, and in 1958 it purchased its first sign-written van. In 1966, Barbara and her husband Ted became directors, and the company acquired its first tankers. In 1973, the premises burnt down and were uninsured, but the business recovered. In 1975, Ted became Managing Director after Fred passed away. In the 1980s, Rock Oil became involved in racing and the motorcycle market.
