Secret apartment inside the mall
A group of artists secretly created and intermittently occupied a furnished apartment in an unused internal space for more than four years. After discovery, Michael Townsend faced a breaking-and-entering charge that was reduced to trespassing. He received probation after a no-contest plea and was banned from the mall. The incident attracted national attention and later inspired a documentary.
