Okamoto Group

Okamoto Group is a corporate group centered on Okamoto Holdings, comprising 32 companies. It was founded in 1950 by Tadakazu Okamoto in Shihoro, Hokkaido, starting with a newspaper sales office. The group has expanded into various businesses including gas stations, auto maintenance, home energy, fitness, public-private partnerships, nursing care, reuse, entertainment, food service, laundry, beauty, and mega-solar.

Okamoto Group was founded in 1950 when founder Tadakazu Okamoto opened a newspaper sales office in Shihoro, Hokkaido. In 1964, it opened its first fuel station. In 1971, Okamoto Etsuki Shoten (now Okamoto Co., Ltd.) was established. The group expanded into LP gas and vehicle inspection in 1981, swimming school in 1984, TSUTAYA franchise in 1989, fitness club in 1991, and Bikkuri Donkey franchise in 1992. In 1996, Okamoto Co., Ltd. was born through merger and name change. In 1999, it opened its first recycling store and Hokkaido's first self-service gas station. In 2001, it opened its first JOYFIT sports club and internet cafe. In 2002, it began franchising JOYFIT. In 2005, Okamoto Self expanded to Honshu. In 2006, it entered public-private partnership business. In 2007, it entered nursing care business. In 2008, Earth Co., Ltd. (now Okamoto Holdings) was established, and day service 'Joyreha' was opened. In 2009, franchising of Joyreha began. In 2011, Yamaguchi Co., Ltd. was acquired. In 2013, Wellness Frontier was born through merger. In 2015, first FIT365 gym opened. In 2016, entered electricity sales. In 2017, Kanashoku Co., Ltd. was acquired. In 2018, franchising of FIT365 began. In 2019, Yamaguchi acquired Tobe Oil Sales. In 2020, Taguchi Oil was acquired. In 2021, Okamoto celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 2022, Yamaguchi acquired Setouchi Swimming School and Tanpopo no Watage; Okamoto acquired Seibun. In 2023, Wellness Frontier and Setouchi Swimming School merged into Yamaguchi; Okamoto acquired Hokusho and Hokusou; Yamaguchi acquired Medical Seed. In 2024, Okamoto acquired Hachidai Kigyo and Nippon Bei Oil; Yamaguchi acquired Hakkou Trading and Hakkou Oil; Kanashoku, Taguchi Oil, and Seibun merged into Okamoto; Tobe Oil Sales merged into Yamaguchi; Yamaguchi acquired Elena, I-Rise, and Sasuke; Okamoto acquired Staha and Askraft; Nippon Bei Oil acquired Kokufu Oil. In 2025, headquarters moved to Otofuke; Hachidai Kigyo merged into Nippon Bei Oil; Yamaguchi acquired Reboot; I-Rise acquired Uejima Shokai; Okamoto acquired Senboku Ohisama Project.
