Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen

Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) is a company founded in 1868. It is known for innovations in transformer technology, including the first on-load tap-changer based on the resistor principle. The company operates with the MR brand and solutions from 57 locations across five continents.

The company was founded in 1868 as a small workshop in the Reinhausen district of Regensburg, manufacturing rip saws for the timber industry. In 1901, Andreas Scheubeck took over and renamed the company 'Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen' (MR). In 1926, the company produced the world's first prototype for a high-speed resistor-type tap-changer for interruption-free switching under load, based on Dr. Jansen's idea. Patent applications were published in 1928 and 1929.
