The Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N) was founded in 1850 and became a major railroad system in the American South, connecting Louisville, Kentucky, and Nashville, Tennessee, later expanding across the Southeast. It underwent several mergers in the late 20th century and was finally absorbed into CSX Corporation in 1982.
