History
Harviestoun states that it has been brewing innovative beers for nearly 40 years, long before the current craft beer boom in the UK set off, and describes itself as one of the forefathers of the movement to better beer. It is based at the foot of the Ochil Hills in Alva, where it produces natural brews combining local ingredients and pure Scottish water with hops from around the world. Roughly 80% of the malt it uses comes from a local farm within 8 miles of the brewery, and its spent grain goes back to another local farmer as cattle feed.
