It is one of about a dozen dry cleaners in the world that meet LCI’s strict requirements to be a true couture dry cleaner.
History
Hallak Cleaners was founded over 58 years ago by Joseph Hallak, Sr. In 1955, Mr. Joseph Hallak, Sr. opened Eiffel Cleaners in East Orange, New Jersey. In 1966, he opened Hallak Cleaners at 1239 Second Avenue. In 1972, Barney’s requested Joe Hallak, Sr. as a spokesperson for a full page NYT advertisement, and Hallak was featured on the cover of American Dry Cleaner magazine. In 1982, Hallak Cleaners was again featured on the cover of American Dry Cleaner. In 1983, a 5,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art production facility was established. The company is currently celebrating its 59th anniversary.
