History
Garaga was founded in 1983 when Michel Gendreau, at age 26, purchased the assets of a garage door manufacturing company in Saint-Georges, Quebec, Canada. The first product was a lightly insulated aluminum garage door in six colors. In 1986, Garaga invested $1.2 million in a new plant. In 1990, it launched its own hardware production line. In 1991, it landed a $2.5-million contract for insulated panels for the Manic-5 dam. In 1993, it launched its first steel doors. In 1995, it expanded markets and launched the Garaga Experts Network.
