Cortical Labs

Cortical Labs is a biotech company based in Melbourne, Australia, focused on building biological computers. They combine lab-grown neurons with silicon chips to create the world's first code-deployable biological computer, the CL1, and offer a cloud platform called Cortical Cloud. The company was founded in 2019 by Hon Weng Chong and Andy Kitchen.

Cortical Labs was founded in 2019 by Hon Weng Chong and Andy Kitchen. In 2021, they grew human neurons on a chip and taught them to play Pong. In 2022, they released an academic paper describing 'DishBrain'. In 2025, they released their first commercial product, the CL1.
