E. coli contamination linked to French frozen pizzas
French authorities linked Buitoni's Fraîch'Up frozen pizzas to E. coli illnesses among children, including severe cases and two reported deaths in the reference material. Inspections found serious hygiene deficiencies at the Caudry plant, production was prohibited, several product lines were recalled, and prosecutors opened an investigation.

Horse-meat adulteration controversy
Traces of horse meat were found in Buitoni products in Spain and Italy during the wider European meat-adulteration scandal. The affected products were withdrawn.
