The United States is the global leader in high-end 3D computer animation and major theatrical franchises, home to industry giants like Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation and Illumination. Major U.S. animation studios produce the world's highest-grossing movies, consistently delivering blockbuster hits that generate billions of dollars in global box office revenue. Japan dominates the global 2D animation market through its prolific "anime" industry, with studios such as Studio Ghibli, Toei Animation, Madhouse, Production I.G and MAPPA driving massive international demand and record-breaking export revenues.[1][2]
