8 Nëntori Publishing House

The institutional background of 8 Nëntori Publishing House can be traced to the translation sector of the Institute of History of the Party of Labour of Albania. That translation sector was established in 1955 and later transferred to the Naim Frashëri Publishing House in 1965. Naim Frashëri subsequently became more closely associated with fictional literature, particularly from 1974 onward. In 1973, 8 Nëntori Publishing House was created in Tirana as a separate publishing institution. The new house took its name from 8 November, the date commemorating the foundation of the Party of Labour of Albania. The name placed the institution clearly within the political and commemorative vocabulary of socialist Albania. Its main publishing field was political and nonfictional material.
