Syrian General Railway Corporation (,[2], CFS) is a government-owned national railway operator for the state of Syria, subordinate to the Ministry of Transport.[3] Syrian Railways is the owner of Syria's railway network.
It was established in 1956 and is headquartered in Aleppo.[4] For operational purposes the company is divided into three regions: Central, Eastern and Northern.
History
It was established in 1956. Previously, it was known as the General Establishment of Syrian Railways. At the end of 2004 CFS employed around 12,400 staff.
