NextDC

NEXTDC is an Australian data centre operator. Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, NEXTDC is the largest listed developer and operator of data centres in Australia.[1] As of March 2026, the company operates 17 data centres, with facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra, Adelaide, Darwin, Sunshine Coast and the Pilbara region.

History

NEXTDC was founded by Bevan Slattery in May 2010.[2] It has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange since December 2010.[3]

In June 2012, Craig Scroggie was appointed Chief Executive Officer of NEXTDC.

In 2015, NEXTDC was named Australia’s fastest-growing technology company in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards.

In 2024, NEXTDC expanded its national infrastructure footprint with the opening of new facilities including D1 Darwin and A1 Adelaide, extending its interconnection and digital infrastructure platform across Australia.

In December 2025, NEXTDC signed a memorandum of understanding with OpenAI to develop sovereign artificial intelligence infrastructure in Australia, including a hyperscale AI campus and large-scale GPU supercluster at the company’s S7 site in Sydney.[4]
