This list comprises banks operating in the United Kingdom that are authorised and prudentially regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), a part of the Bank of England. The PRA is responsible for the prudential supervision of financial firms that manage significant risks on their balance sheets, including banks, building societies, credit unions, and insurers. Its primary objective is to promote the safety and soundness of these institutions, thereby contributing to the financial stability of the UK.[1]
The banks on this list include both UK-incorporated banks (often referred to as 'local' banks) and non-UK banks that have established a presence in the UK.

The rankings are based solely on the size of UK-registered bank entities and may include the asset contributions of overseas branches that form part of the same UK-registered legal entity.
