Adidas NMD is a line of running shoes released by Adidas in 2015. The shoes are best known for utilizing the company's Boost technology in the soles.
History
The sneaker was released the same year as the Adidas Ultraboost on December 9, 2015, and was created to capitalize on the company's new Boost technology.[1] The inspiration for the shoe came from wanting to take old designs from Adidas' past and blend them with new most recent designs and technology it had which is why it used its Primeknit uppers. The three shoes used for inspiration were the Boston Super, Micropacer, and Rising Star.[2]
The name "NMD" stands for "nomad" which the company says was the inspiration for the shoe.[3] Adidas wanted to create a shoe for someone who was always on the move and a global traveler; the shoe debuted in New York City.
